Hand Knitted Baby Clothes and Baby Gifts

With a lot of homes in Christchurch not being as warm and snug as they were 12 months ago (due to the quake) the Nanas have also been clacking their needles to help keep the children of Christchurch warm.

We had a lovely customer in Auckland, who when she heard we were doing this, donated funds for three packs of wool to be knitted up - a huge thank you Fleur, this was an amazing offer. Also Nanashell's husband kindly donated funds for four packs of wool.

Not only has this benefitted the children, but our older knitters have found this very therapeutic while we have been dealing with all the after-shocks.

We have been knitting for the children aged 5 - 10 in the eastern city and Nanashell has insisted we only knit 100% wool and has tried to give the knitters modern style patterns.

Some of these garments can be seen in the photos - hooded jumpers and sleeveless hoodies for the boys and the short-style cardigan or brights for the girls. With the odd balls we have also knitted up 100% wool beanies and mittens. Fingerless mittens are on the needles as the older children prefer these.

All these garments can be ordered and knitted up for you through our online shop, or by contacting us directly, in a style and colour of your choice. Although we use 100% wool or 100% merino wool for our hand knitted garments we try to keep the cost as affordable as we can.

One of the garments was beautifully knitted up by our Grandad who knits beautifully.

The nanas will be continuing with the gift of knitting to the children for the next 12 months. We will continue to post photos of the garments we have donated.
